Navigating Mum Life With Two Under Two By @raising.rehas

Hi my name is Chelsea, and I’m Mum to Carson (2 years old) and Dallas (7 months old). My husband - Taylor, and I always wanted our children to be close in age, so when Carson turned 6 months old we decided we’d start trying for baby number two. After six months of trying, we fell pregnant with our little girl Dallas, and we were officially welcomed into the two under two club. Below is a bit about our journey, some of the best advice I’ve received, things I’ve learnt and things I would change if I went back.

What advice has been the best you have received?

Don’t sweat the small stuff. This is hands down the best parenting, or life advice I’ve ever received. Although, I will admit it is not always easy to follow, especially when it’s only 6:30 in the morning and your toddler has missed his mouth on 75% of his cereal, now meaning it’s new home is the table, chair, floor, wall and himself, but never the less, it’s a cleanable mess, so why stress.
What are things that you realise now that perhaps you worried about before?

Your love multiples, and you get to see this beautiful relationship flourish between two little human beings you created. I can’t even explain the feeling, but it is hands down one of the best feelings in the world, and I one that I spent many sleepless nights worrying about, well it turns out I really had nothing to worry about at all!

If you could do anything again would you change anything?

I don’t think I’d change anything, more just start things I’m doing now sooner. So each day Taylor and I both make an effort to spend at least 10 minutes uninterrupted playing with whatever Carson wants to play with. This means no phones, no TV, no Dallas, just Carson and us time, it fills his cup, meaning he feels seen, heard and loved.
What is the most rewarding part of being a Mama to two?

I did touch on this above, but the most rewarding part is seeing their relationship with each other flourish. They’ve just hit an age where they’re truely starting to play with each other, and my goodness. I find myself stopping so many times during the day, wishing I could just capture a moment forever, seeing them interact, laugh and play together. My heart literally bursts!

What are some things you have learnt from your kids?

Patience and true happiness. I am not a patient person at all, but having a child who’s just as stubborn as yourself, well patience is definitely needed. True happiness, I thought I was truely happy before these two, but this type of happiness they bring is a whole new level. It’s the type of happiness that in the moment you want to burst into tears, because you can just feel the love, and happiness surrounding you - tearing up writing this!
To round it off, Mum life with two under two is a wild ride, but a ride I would go on over and over again, because the love and happiness makes all the long sleepless nights, the tantrums, the tears and emotional breakdowns worth it. It’s all worth it ❤️
